Celebrate Clean Air Day at the Solana Beach Library!
On the first Wednesday of each October, the Coalition for Clean Air hosts California Clean Air Day to reduce air pollution. The statewide annual event is built on the idea that shared experiences unite people to take action and create new habits to improve air quality. This year, celebrate Clean Air Day with Friends of the Library on a special Saturday opening at the Solana Beach Library!
This fun event will showcase local initiatives for sustainable environmental practices and clean air. There will be live music, activities, swag and prizes for those who bike to the event. The City will be attending, along with EDCO, the SeaWeeders Garden Club, the Solana Beach Eco-Rotary Club, Go Greenish and more.
When? Saturday October 3rd, 2026, 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM
Where? Solana Beach Library @ 157 Stevens Avenue

Fall Sustainable Recycling Day
The City has partnered with EDCO to host another Fall Sustainable Recycling Day!
This year’s event will be on Saturday, October 3, 2026, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM in the La Colonia Community Center parking lot, 715 Valley Avenue, at the Valley Avenue entrance.
The clean-up event will have mulch available for self-load/self-haul, certified shredding trucks that will shred all items on site, Goodwill collecting reusable items, and collecting unwanted electronic and universal waste.
Bulky Item Cleanup
Residents will have the opportunity to place trash, green waste and up to four bulky items at the curb that would be too large or heavy to put inside collection carts, such as, broken appliances, water heaters, furniture, old mattresses (please wrap mattresses prior to setting out - special mattress disposal bags can be purchased at hardware stores or on their websites), and other miscellaneous bulky household clutter. Please do not leave Electronic Waste out at curbside, feel free to drop off at the La Colonia Community Center during the shred event. Tree trimmings should be cut into 3’ lengths and tied securely into bundles not greater than 18” in diameter. Please do not use plastic bags, paper bags are accepted.
Please schedule your cleanup items to be picked up beginning the week of September 21st by calling (858) 350-8544 and put the items out curbside by 7 a.m. on Saturday, October 3, 2026 for collection.
Free E-Waste Collection!
Unwanted electronic waste will be collected at the event including TVs, computer monitors, printers, fax machines, VCRs, DVD players and cell phones.
Free Compost and/or Mulch!
EDCO will have compost and/or mulch available for self-load/
self-haul at the clean-up event at no cost. Come early and bring a shovel to get your material while it lasts! Limit of 3 cans/bags per vehicle. If you plan to haul your material in an open truck or trailer, please remember to bring a tarp to cover your material.
Free Paper Shredding!
Protect the security of your confidential information by shredding your
personal documents. There will be certified shredding trucks on site during the event and all
items will be shredded ON SITE! Limited to two bankers boxes (10”x12”x15”) per household.
Goodwill will also be onsite to accepting new and used clothing, shoes, kitchenware and home decor. Please go to edcodisposal.com for a list of items that Goodwill will not accept.
Event is for Solana Beach residents only. Debris from contractors, landscapers or commercial businesses will not be accepted. Household hazardous waste and tires will not be accepted.
