East Lomas Santa Fe Corridor Improvements Project
Project Overview At A Glance
- The City of Solana Beach is reconstructing Lomas Santa Fe Drive from Santa Helena Drive to Highland Drive - a federally funded corridor improvement project spanning approximately 0.93 miles. The project is the first phase of the Lomas Santa Fe Corridor Project extending from Cedros Drive to Highland Drive.
- The project delivers significant multimodal upgrades including a new dedicated multi-use path (shared-use pedestrian and bicycle path) along the corridor's north side, Class II bike lanes in both directions, and upgraded ADA-compliant curb ramps throughout.
- Roadway reconstruction includes full-depth asphalt concrete pavement replacement, new Type G curb and gutter, Type B-1 median curb, and a 2" grind and overlay on portions of the corridor.
- A new retaining wall will support the widened roadway where grading constraints exist between Santa Helena and Las Banderas.
- Storm drain improvements include replacement of aging corrugated metal pipes, new storm drain, new Type B curb inlet channels, brow ditches, and biofiltration basins for water quality treatment.
- Raised medians with landscaping and irrigation will be constructed throughout the corridor to improve traffic operations and aesthetics.
- Signing, striping, and traffic signal modifications are included at key intersections along the corridor.
- Landscape and irrigation improvements feature native and drought-tolerant plantings with a purple (recycled water) drip and spray irrigation system.
- The Project received $7M in federal grant funding through CPFCDSL and will be partially funded through the City’s Transportation Impact Fee and Measure S.
