Fall Recycling Tips
Fall means variety of exciting activities, including Halloween festivities, crunchy leaves, Thanksgiving meals, and the start of the holiday season. During all this fun, households can generate a little more waste than usual - from old pumpkins to yard trimmings, cardboard boxes, and leftovers. When creating waste, it's important to know what goes where to be a bit kinder to the environment.
Green organics bin
- Give your Jack-O-Lantern a second life! Old pumpkins can be recycled in the organics bin - just remember to remove all candles, lights, and plastic decorations first
- Fallen leaves, grass, lawn trimming, and other yard waste
- Food scraps - Share, reimagine, or freeze leftovers before recycling them in the green bin!
- Food-soiled or greasy carboard
- Make sure to never pour fat, oil, or grease down the drain. When cooking a feast, place cooking oil and grease in liquid and hardened form loosely in your green organics cart with paper towels or cardboard
Blue recycling bin
- Cardboard decorations and costumes
- Clean boxes
- Hard plastic decorations and containers
- Plastic recycling #1 through #7
- Plastic or glass bottles
