September is Emergency Preparedness Month
September is Emergency Preparedness Month. In partnership with the City of Del Mar, we're sharing practical steps to help you protect yourself, your family, and your community.
This week, we're encouraging residents to sign up for Alert San Diego and download the Genasys Protect app. These tools provide critical updates on evacuations, road closures, and other emergencies in our community. It's best to download these tools and ensure notifications and location services are enabled before an emergency occurs. Assist family members, neighbors, and older adults in getting connected too! Remember, these apps are helpful tools, but no single notification system should be your only source of information. During an emergency, monitor local authorities, follow evacuation instructions, and call 9-1-1 if you are in immediate danger. Take a few minutes this week to get connected. Early information can provide valuable time to respond.
Watch this video from Del Mar TV about emergency preparedness, which includes information about building an evacuation kit, utility shutoffs, and other resources that are available during an emergency.
