Happy Bike Month!
May is National Bike Month!
Join this month-long event that promotes bicycle commuting, safety, and driver awareness of bicycle riders. Bikes offer a clean, quiet, affordable, emissions-free and healthy alternative to driving by car, which is why the City continues to work to promote bike usage during community development workshops, through the implementation of bicycle lanes and infrastructure, and to provide continued awareness and opportunities to engage residents of all ages in the activity of bicycling.
Throughout the month of May, residents and visitors of Solana Beach can experience the joys of bicycling through community events, or simply by getting out and going for a ride.
Tune up your bike skills and join SANDAG's classes and bike rides throughout the month:
- Saturday, May 16: San Diego River Days group ride in Mission Valley
- Saturday, May 23: Bike Commuting 202 at the Pacific Beach/Taylor Public Library
- Saturday, May 30: Bike Commuting 101 at the Paradise Hills Public Library
Register for bike rides and classes here!
This year, join SANDAG’s Bike Anywhere Day on May 21st by biking to work, school, the beach, or anywhere!
The City and NCTD will be hosting a pit stop at the Solana Beach train station. Stop by on your bike between 6:30 - 9:30 AM to fuel up with a fun snack, have some water, and grab a giveaway before they run out!
