Date: Apr 22 , 2026

May 3-9th is International Compost Awareness Week!

International Compost Awareness Week (ICAW) is celebrated worldwide each year during the first full week of May to bring people together to share the benefits of composting organics and using compost to build healthier soil. Communities, schools, governments, and businesses team up to highlight the many types of composting, from small backyard efforts to large-scale commercial operations, during this week.

The City of Solana Beach is proud to be a part of this; encouraging the use of compost to create a healthier environment and more sustainable future. Learn more about the benefits of compost, and how to properly apply compost at home!

And remember to stop by the Compost Hub at the Public Works Yard on any day Monday through Thursday, from 8 AM - 3 PM to pick up free compost for your garden.
