Smoother Trips Ahead on Lomas Santa Fe West

If you drive Lomas Santa Fe Drive on the west side of I-5, you may have noticed some changes at the signals over the past several months. We want to thank residents for your patience as we've worked behind the scenes to make this corridor better for everyone.

Last winter, the City installed new smart-signal technology at all five intersection along Lomas Santa Fe Avenue, west of I-5. We appreciate the feedback from the community and are continuing to make adjustments to improve the experience of all users.

The City is coordinating with Caltrans and monitoring performance, including during special events, school sessions, and holidays, to determine what additional adjustments can be made to further optimize the system.

Recent data show that the average time drivers spend waiting at these signals has dropped by more than half since the spring, and the longest wait times have nearly been cut in half. We have also added lead pedestrian time at Highway 101 and Lomas Santa Fe Avenue to give pedestrians a head start with crossing all 4 legs of the intersection.
