Solana Beach's Local Measure C & Municipal Election Voter Information
The Solana Beach City Council approved the placement of Measure C - an update to the City's local hotel/lodging tax - on the November Municipal ballot for voter consideration.
Measure C is a proposed 1% increase to the current local hotel/lodging tax that is paid by visitors and tourists who stay in the local hotels and short-term lodging in Solana Beach.
Measure C will not impact your taxes as a resident of Solana Beach, it applies only to visitors who stay in local hotels or lodging to fund the services visitors and resident value in Solana Beach.
All money raised by Measure C is reinvested back into the community to fund essential services and facilities in Solana Beach. By law, it can't be taken away by the County, State, or Federal Governments.
If enacted, Measure C can address local resident funding priorities identified through a Solana Beach community survey earlier this year, such as keeping beaches, parks, and trails safe, clean, and well-maintained; preventing trash from entering local beaches and lagoons; keeping public restrooms well-maintained and clean; providing lifeguards at local beaches; providing public safety services and upgrading life-saving emergency medical equipment and technology.
Measure C includes accountability requirements such as public spending reports and annual financial audits that ensure funds are used effectively.
In November, Solana Beach voters will also elect Councilmembers to represent Districts 2 and 4.
Make Sure to Return Your Ballot Early: Please make sure your vote is counted. Due to recent USPS operational changes, ballots mailed on or just before November 3rd may not arrive in time to be counted. If you plan to vote by mail, please return your ballot as early as possible and ideally to an Official Vote by Mail Drop box.
