Solana Beach Community Connections Book Club
Do you suffer from "So many books, too little time?" Are you melancholy when you finish a great book and feel a yearning to talk about it with others? Solana Beach Community Connections (SBCC) is forming another book club!
The new book club will meet on the second Thursday of each month from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM at La Colonia Park's Community Center classroom, located at 715 Valley Avenue, Solana Beach, 92075. The first meeting will be Thursday, September 10.
Participation is limited to 12 members. To sign up, please call, text, or leave a voicemail at 858-284-6619 with your name, phone number, and email address. Please specify you're signing up for the new Book Club. You'll receive a confirmation email regarding participation or an acknowledgement stating you've been placed on a waiting list.
The new book club will be a place to discover thought-provoking stories, meet unforgettable characters, and connect with others who enjoy reading. The first meeting will provide an opportunity for members to meet each other, learn about the club, receive a brief list of club guidelines, and a suggested reading list. Group members may also recommend titles they hope the book club will read.
The leader of the new book club is Robin Radlauer-Cramer, a former teacher. She is excited about sharing her love of books and reading with others. "Book clubs with my students was one of the ways my students learned to love reading," said Robin. "Now that I'm retired, I get to be in a book club too."
Book club members will be responsible for obtaining the book club selections, wither by purchasing, requesting it from the library, using Libby, or any other source for ebooks. Titles on the list will include books which have been out for a while to increase the possibility of obtaining the book form the library.
If you're a Solana Beach senior in need of transportation, please call 858-923-1344 to schedule a ride at least five days in advance.
This is a free event co-sponsored by Solana Beach Community Connections and the City of Solana Beach's Parks and Recreation Department.
