Mature Adult Activities - September & October 2026
The Mature Adult Center’s mission is to provide excellent resources, foster meaningful relationships, and fulfill opportunities for aging well. The center is open to everyone! We welcome participants from both within and outside Solana Beach and offer a variety of programs, activities and services, including classes, discussion groups, games, entertainment, and a delicious Wednesday lunch program.
The Mature Adult Center is open to everyone and is located at Solana Beach Presbyterian Church in Debin Hall (120 Stevens Ave, Solana Beach, CA 92075).

MONTHLY ACTIVITIES
Wednesday Programs & Lunch
Wednesdays are BIG days at the Mature Adult Center, featuring classes, discussion groups, games, entertainment, and a delicious lunch. Enjoy a fun program and delicious meal with friends every Wednesday in Debin Hall. Programs/Entertainment start at 11:30 AM, and lunch starts at 12:15 PM.
Reservations are required one week in advance. Lunch is $10 per person or $11 for to-go meals. Special funds are available for anyone needing assistance. Contact the Mature Adult Center at (858) 509-2587 for more information.

Feeling Fit Club (Virtual)
Stay active from home on Mondays and Wednesdays, 8:30-9:30 AM, with this free virtual fitness class. Led by Sue Grant, this class is sponsored by San Diego County’s Aging and Independent Services. Silver Age (Chair) Yoga
Open to all on Fridays from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM in Debin Hall’s lower level, Room 16 (Parking in lot #2 is easiest). Instructors Elizabeth Young and Terri Rucker co-lead the Silver Age Yoga class, which is designed specifically for the needs of seniors of all ability levels. This “chair only” class means no mats and no getting on the floor. There is no fee, but donations are welcome for non-profit Silver Age Yoga.
Get a Dose of GOOD News
One of our wonderful Mature Adult Center couples, Frank and Toni Wong, will lead a discussion group featuring only Good News to brighten and enrich our lives. Mark your calendars for the 2nd & 4th Wednesdays, beginning September 10th, at 10:15 am in Room 15. Check out Good News Network at goodnewsnetwork.org or bring a good news item to share.
Basic Tech Support
Are you baffled by apps, or need some basic computer guidance? Christopher Slate, Library Technician with the Solana Beach Library, will be at the Mature Adult Center offering basic tech support on the 1st & 3rd Wednesdays of each month from 1:15-2 PM in Debin Hall. No appointment is necessary.
Book Club
The Book Club kicks off another season of great discussions. If you love reading, want to keep your mind sharp, and enjoy expanding your social circle, this group is for you! Join this great group for in-person discussions on the 2nd Wednesday of each month at 1:15 PM, in Debin Hall Room 16. Ginny’s Sewing Club
If you love to sew, then come join this lovely group of gals who meet every 1st & 3rd Wednesday at 10:00 AM in Debin Hall’s lower level, Room 16, to stitch and chat. There are plenty of non-sewing tasks as well! They often bring lunch to enjoy some social time together after the sewing session. Knitters & Crochet Club
Knitting and crocheting are ideal activities for maintaining dexterity and mental sharpness while enjoying time with friends. This closely knit group meets at 10:00 AM on Wednesdays in Debin Hall. Everyone is welcome to come knit, crochet, and chat for a while.
Memory Cafe
Join us every 1st & 3rd Friday from 10:00 to 11:30 at SBPC in Room 103. Come get connected and keep your brain active! The Memory Cafe is an enjoyable gathering for older adults to socialize, learn about keeping their brains healthy, and have some fun! Please note: Memory Cafe will not meet on Friday, October 16.

Coronado Ferry Ride, Sightseeing & Lunch
Ahoy Mate! Join us as we set our sights across the bay! On this excursion we'll enjoy a short one-way cruise across the beautiful San Diego bay to Coronado Island for some light shopping and lunch.

Miniature Engineering Craftsmanship Museum & The Green Dragon Museum/Tavern
This trip is an amazing opportunity to visit not just one, but two local museums, and enjoy a lunch at a San Diego Magazine award-winning restaurant/tavern. Our visits will include miniature models created out of metal and wood, exhibits full of America's colonial history, and Chef inspired cuisine. You won't want to miss out on this fantastic adventure!

Tour the Marine Corp Museum at MCRD, San Diego
"Oorah!" You won't want to miss this docent led museum tour. We'll gain valuable insight into the mechanics and history of the Marine Corps. The museum provides an educational setting that portrays the legacy of the Marine Corps for the training of recruits and the continuing education of Marines, supports the recruiting effort, and serves as a bridge to the community.

Hanging Out as At Summer Past Farms
This adventure takes us to a unique country setting in East County. Here we will be delighted by gorgeous views of El Captain mountain, have a chance to stroll through beautiful gardens, be enticed by intoxicating fragrances and charmed by alluring flowers & herbs. We'll even enjoy some retail therapy - homemade soaps, lotions, oils, honey, etc. Additionally, on our way home, we'll stop for lunch as the renowned DZ Akin's Restaurant.

Extended Travel Opportunities
GLEANINGS FOR THE HUNGRY
You’re invited to join an enthusiastic group at Gleanings in Dinuba, CA (not far from Fresno) for an amazing week of fellowship, service, worship and fun! Join a group of friends and spend a wonderful week supporting the efforts of YWAM’s Gleanings for the Hungry in California’s beautiful Central Valley. There’s a lot to do and something for every skill and energy level. You might be packing dry soup mix, assist with office tasks, painting or making tied quilts. You’ll be living in motel type rooms with bathrooms and all meals furnished. The cost is less than $20 per day! Transportation is by carpooling in private cars. Flights are available to Fresno as well.
DEPARTURE: Sunday, October 4. RETURN: Friday, October 9.
ACTIVITY LEVEL: 4 (moderate - standing, walking, sitting, stairs may be involved)

C.S. Lewis & Other Gifts of the British Isles - September 21–October 2, 2026
Delve into the beautiful and fascinating world and words of C.S. Lewis, the gifted and prolific author. Along the way, explore places associated with other famous literary figures, including J.R.R. Tolkien, Jane Austen, and Charles Dickens.
Our adventure begins in dynamic Belfast, Northern Ireland, the birthplace of C.S. Lewis, and along the Antrim Coast, where his family vacationed. We’ll continue to England, where he was educated and spent much of his adult life. During our travels, retired pastor and Lewis expert Mark Vermaire will help us see how Lewis’ stories enchant, intrigue, and prod us to consider our own faith and life. We’ll stroll through the charming university cities of Bath, Oxford, and Cambridge; stand in awe of the Giant’s Causeway and ancient Stonehenge; take in the rolling hills and picturesque stone villages of the Cotswolds; and delight in the vibrancy and elegance of London.
