Date: May 28 , 2026

Somos Tías has been recognized as the 2026 Senate District 38 Nonprofit of the Year by California Senator Catherine Blakespear! Somos Tías is a local, volunteer-driven organization of concerned community members who provide support, including legal advocacy, essential supplies and groceries, to families facing immigration enforcement. TIAS stands for Take Inspired Action Siempre ("Siempre" means "Always" in Spanish).

Somos Tías was founded in Solana Beach by Amy Bryan and Lisa Montes (the Aunties or Tías), and has deep roots in our most historic neighborhood, La Colonia de Eden Gardens. Their team shows up for immigrant families with practical support, compassion, and the true spirit of neighbors helping neighbors. The Tías has long extended our community's social safety net by helping neighbors access legal, medical, and food-security resources when they need it most.

We're proud of their statewide recognition and even more proud of the meaningful, steady impact they continue to make right here at home.
